Heart Evangelista

eart Evangelista has left the management of ABS- CBN's Star Magic (formerly Talent Center ) to join Genesis Entertainment under Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano. Heart's management contract has reportedly expired several months ago.

There is no bad blood between Heart and Star Magic, we were assured by a source close to the young actress. Heart became a Born-Again Christian last month, so it's understandable that she will go to Genesis, whose big boss, Angeli, is also known to be a spiritual adviser of all her talents.

Heart definitely needs guidance, said our source. Her romance with Jericho Rosales, her co-star in the ABS-CBN fantasy series, "Panday," had caused a rift with her family, who reportedly does not approve of her relationship with the actor. In fact, Heart is said to be not on speaking terms with her mom.

But Heart is not about to burn bridges with her erstwhile management outfit. She simply left Star Magic, but she remains to be an ABS-CBN contract artist. She will be seen again soon in "Panday," which will start airing its second world on Feb. 13.

However, an ABS-CBN insider confirmed that "Panday" will be cut short due to Heart's health problems. The actress' asthma turned from bad to worse after working out-of-town to shoot scenes for "Panday." Taping even had to be packed up for a few days when Heart was hospitalized due to an acute asthma attack.

"Panday" production team will reportedly scrap the third world of "Panday" and will simply incorporate the story into the second world, which will air for only six weeks. This became the production's decision after they realized they could no longer force Heart to shoot more out-of-town scenes for "Panday."

Our source disclosed the decision had nothing to do with ratings. They could not easily kill Heart's character in the series and replace her with another actress to become Jericho's wife in the story. Heart's character is the core in "Panday's" story.

FLT secures Pacquiao life story

Don't look now, but producer Rose Flaminiano of FLT Films pulled a fast one over other producers by securing the life story of boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, who came home triumphant from his boxing rematch with Mexican Erik Morales. Mommy Rose even flew to Las Vegas to watch the Pacquiao-Morales fight. While there, she clinched the deal with Manny for the latter's bio-pic.

We heard Robin Padilla is being eyed to portray Pacquiao on the big screen, but Manny reportedly wants Jericho Rosales to star in the bio-pic, so ABS-CBN can help in the publicity. Joel Lamangan is being tapped to direct the project, while Roy Iglesias will be commissioned to write the script.

As for Manny's wife, Jinky, we heard that Kristine Hermosa or Angelika de la Cruz is being considered to play the role.

Richard shares his blessings

No matter how busy he is with his showbiz commitments, Richard Gutierrez vowed to do more charity work this year. In fact, he started it on his 22nd birthday last Jan. 21, when he visited the residents of Boys Town at its 23-hectare compound in Marikina City.

Boys Town houses more than 500 residents that do not only include young boys, but also senior citizens, girls and kids. Richard gave a special party at the Activity Center, complete with food, a magician and give-aways.

Richard is undoubtedly one of the busiest young actors in showbiz today. Last year, he had two box office hits to his name – "Let the Love Begin" and "Mulawin: The Movie" – plus the top-rating fantasy-action series on GMA 7, "Sugo." He will be seen on the big screen anew in the romance drama, "I Will Always Love You," the Valentine's Day offering of GMA Films where he stars with his perennial love team, Angel Locsin.

Vhong as Agent X-44

Vhong Navarro is on a roll. On the heels of the box-office success of the comedy-horror flick, "D'Anothers," the comedian-TV host inked a new, three-picture deal with Star Cinema.

Vhong is set to start a new project with ABS-CBN's film arm which will pair him anew with his "D'Anothers" co-star and "Wazzup, Wazzup" co-host Toni Gonzaga. The movie will be a remake of "X-44," the local agent a la James Bond, popularized by action star Toni Ferrer.

We were told that Star Cinema had gotten the go-signal from Tony Ferrer to produce a remake of "X-44," with Vhong in the lead role. The movie will again be directed by Joyce Bernal, who was also at the helm of "D'Anothers."

Vhong, who was accompanied by his manager, Chito Roño, when he signed his new contract with Star Cinema early this week, is excited about his upcoming project. Vhong said he is familiar with the character of Agent X-44, so portraying the detective on the big screen is something that he really looks forward to.
